'The Assassination of Jesse James.... - Movie Monday

Straying away from Australian made films for a minute I thought I'd post this one..
'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford'
Directed and written (screenplay) by Andrew Dominik who is New Zealand born "Australian" (we like to often claim Kiwis as our own, he also wrote and directed "Chopper") its beautifully shot using lots of tilt /shift lens movements and vaseline on the lens for amazing focus effects.. Director of Photography : Roger Deakins who's credits list alone is massive.
Soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

NY Summer Streets [draft cut] Slient

Summer Streets in New York, NY, for 3 weekends in August -where a 6 mile stretch of North- South running streets from the Brooklyn Bridge up to 72nd Street and then into Central Park is closed to vehicle traffic.
See the Route
The streets feel empty even though they are open to cyclists, runners, rollerblading and anyone just wanting to stroll along.
So much fun having a huge vacant street as your playground.

I shot this trial stop motion video from my apartment in Brooklyn up to Central Park, actually I did two laps but decided to only show the first leg.
Footage is still a little RAW!  and none of this has been shot on video, its all still images edited together using video editing software.
Its not finished yet but wanted to put it up so some people could see it...
Will let you know when the finished version is on Youtube and Vimeo

Look out for Grand Central and the tunnel around 1:30 - such a fun part of the ride.

Get on your bike!!

Vimeo and Youtube Battle it out.

I've been playing around with shooting video for a while now, nothing too fancy, just short clips on the point and shoot and I guess I really jumped on it when I needed to update my still camera and went down the Canon 5d Mark II road.

I thought I should set up an Vimeo account for all the finished projects, especially if they are HD.
Account is here- Vimeo - Jason Hamilton

and I also re-signed for a Youtube account, actually I'd an account for years, since it started out,
but it was a random avatar name which had no relationship to my actual name - how would people find me??
So the new channel is where I'll mostly be posting random short clips and tests.

I promise more video stuff soon...

Summer Streets NY - Movie Monday

Food Ingredients Test (and meet)

Little morning test with Joyce Sangirardi, a Stylist who contacted me after she saw my website.
She had a great idea of instead of just meeting for a coffee we could do a small test and see how we worked together.
In the process of working out dates to shoot and where, we found out we only live a short walk from each other, here's hoping that will mean we can test more often.
Two shots for an ingredients type page.
You can find more of Joyce's work and details here.
