Summer Streets NY 2010 Final- Vimeo
Here's the final version via Vimeo
Alternatively you can watch the huge final HD version here. Summer Streets NY
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did riding, shooting and editing.
NY Summer Streets [draft cut] Slient
Summer Streets in New York, NY, for 3 weekends in August -where a 6 mile stretch of North- South running streets from the Brooklyn Bridge up to 72nd Street and then into Central Park is closed to vehicle traffic.
See the Route
See the Route
The streets feel empty even though they are open to cyclists, runners, rollerblading and anyone just wanting to stroll along.
So much fun having a huge vacant street as your playground.
Footage is still a little RAW! and none of this has been shot on video, its all still images edited together using video editing software.
Its not finished yet but wanted to put it up so some people could see it...
Will let you know when the finished version is on Youtube and Vimeo
Look out for Grand Central and the tunnel around 1:30 - such a fun part of the ride.
Get on your bike!!
Vimeo and Youtube Battle it out.
I've been playing around with shooting video for a while now, nothing too fancy, just short clips on the point and shoot and I guess I really jumped on it when I needed to update my still camera and went down the Canon 5d Mark II road.
I thought I should set up an Vimeo account for all the finished projects, especially if they are HD.
Account is here- Vimeo - Jason Hamilton

and I also re-signed for a Youtube account, actually I'd an account for years, since it started out,
but it was a random avatar name which had no relationship to my actual name - how would people find me??

So the new channel is where I'll mostly be posting random short clips and tests.

Leila Jeffries Exhibits Budgerigars!!
Leila who I mentioned back in December '08, got in touch and told me she had exhibited a Budgie shot in a group show late last year through to January.
I'm really happy for her to be exhibiting the shots she worked really hard to achieve.
She has another showing coming up as part of the Head On photo festival at the Iain Dawson Gallery in Paddington, Sydney. 18-29 May 2010
Leila's Images can be found here and there
Oh, and look out for a solo show in December 2010.
Congrats!!
Here's a photo of "Spencer"

On my way to JFK
My Mum is coming to NY!!
For someone who doesn't like flying at all, it's a huge feat. Almost directly on opposite side of the world, it's a long flight, just over a whole day worth of travel, around 20 hours or airtime- not including stop overs. I'm excited to show her the city I love living in. Then my Dad gets in roughly 3-4 weeks after. Will be great to have them both here.

I AUST ??
Late one night I found this piece of graffiti... It reminded me of being in Sydney, I guess just because of the AUST(ralia)

flickR accounT
I have decided to keep posting images on my blog but instead of multiple images for each posting I decided I'll just post a couple and if there are any others of interest I'll start linking posts to related sets on my flickR account. Enjoy !

Empire State Building Dirigibles Dock
If you're unaware that the top 200 feet of the Empire State building was an after thought you may be surprised to also know that it was build in part as an Airship docking station, or so the story goes! Empire State Building Official Website

One great thing to come out of the fact that the Dirigible docking station wouldn't work is the 102nd Floor observation Deck

I Love Free NY.. I ♥ NY

The heat (well when its not too hot), the people out in the parks but I really like all the free concerts and activities that seem to pop up during the warmer weather, really starting in Spring you need to keep a watch of events on the horizon. See my previous posting for the NYC Parks calendar here and get out.
